Anteriormente, exerceu o cargo de Administrador na GMV Portugal e integrou os Orgãos Sociais das Associações ANETIE, AFCEA Portugal, DANOTEC, PEMAS e PROESPAÇO, tendo participado ativamente no processo de fusão das três últimas no AED Cluster Portugal.
Foi avaliador especialista independente no 7 Programa Quadro da Comissão Europeia tendo representado a indústria portuguesa, entre os anos 2005 e 2015, nos Comites de Defesa e de Segurança da “Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe”, na European Organisation for Security e na Galileo Services.
Ao longo da sua carreira profissional desempenhou ainda funções no sector financeiro, nomeadamente na Banca de Investimentos e em Venture Capital.
É licenciado em Engenharia Civil pelo IST, tem um MBA com especialização em Finanças pela Universidade Católica Portuguesa e é Auditor da Defesa Nacional pelo Instituto da Defesa Nacional.
Sérgio Barbedo is the Country Director of Thales in Portugal and serves as CEO of Thales Edisoft Portugal SA. He previously held the position of Board Member at GMV Portugal. He was part of the governing bodies of ANETIE, AFCEA Portugal, DANOTEC, PEMAS, and PROESPAÇO, playing an active role in the merger process of the latter three into the AED Cluster Portugal.
He was an independent expert evaluator for the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme. He represented the Portuguese industry (2005–2015) in the Defence and Security Committees of the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe, the European Organisation for Security, and Galileo Services.
Throughout his career, he also worked in the financial sector in investment banking and venture capital. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, an MBA specialising in Finance from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and completed the National Defence Auditors Programme at the Portuguese National Defence Institute.
