Ricardo Conde é pai de duas belas meninas. Licenciou-se em Engenharia Eletrotécnica e de Computadores pelo Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.
Tem mais de 30 anos de experiência no setor espacial industrial e institucional. Iniciou a sua carreira profissional em 1991, estando ligado ao setor Aeronáutico e Espacial desde 1993. Participou em vários programas espaciais nacionais e internacionais, nomeadamente nos segmentos Espaciais e Terrestres, e especializou-se em sistemas de Telecomunicações, Radiofrequência e Engenharia de Sistemas Espaciais e Terrestres.
Desde 2019, é membro do conselho de administração da Agência Espacial Portuguesa e, em 2020, foi nomeado Presidente da Agência.
Tem participado como orador em vários congressos internacionais, focando-se, nomeadamente, no papel das novas agências espaciais como novos atores no Espaço, sobre sustentabilidade espacial e o papel das tecnologias espaciais num planeta sustentável.
Em 2022, Ricardo foi o presidente da Rede Eureka, a maior rede internacional para promover a Ciência e a Inovação para PMEs, durante a presidência portuguesa desta organização internacional.
Atualmente, é o representante português e chefe da delegação no Conselho da Agência Espacial Europeia (ESA), no Conselho do Observatório Europeu do Sul (ESO) e no Conselho do Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO).
Em 2024, foi distinguido com a medalha de mérito Científico pelo Ministério da Ciência, tecnologia e Ensino Superior.
Ricardo Conde is the father of two beautiful girls. He graduated in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) – Technical University of Lisbon, with a background in Telecommunications, Radio frequency, and Space and Ground Systems.
Ricardo has more than 30 years of working in the industrial and institutional space sector. He began his professional career in 1991, having been linked to the Aeronautics and Space sector since 1993, having participated in several national and international Space programs, particularly in Space and Ground Segments.
Since 2019, Ricardo has been a member of the board of directors of the Portuguese Space Agency, and in 2020, he was appointed President of the Agency.
He has been participating as a panellist and keynote speaker in several International Space Congresses, particularly on the emerging new space agencies as new actors in Space, Space sustainability, and the role of Space in a sustainable planet.
In 2022, Ricardo was the chairperson of the Eureka Network, the largest international network to promote Science and Innovation for SMEs, during the Portuguese presidency of this international organisation.
Currently, he is the Portuguese representative and head of the delegation to the Council of the European Space Agency (ESA), the Council of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), and the Council of the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO).
In March 2024, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education awarded Ricardo Conde the Medal of Scientific Merit.
