Mafalda Carapuço é licenciada em Engenharia do Ambiente, com Mestrado em Sistemas Marinhos e Costeiros e Doutoramento em Geologia pela Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade.
Após trabalhar em geomorfologia costeira (investigação) e como gestora ambiental (setor privado), foi coordenadora do Grupo de Navios de Investigação e Observatórios Oceânicos do Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera. Atualmente, trabalha no Atlantic International Research Centre como Diretora Executiva Adjunta para Operações e Desenvolvimento.
É colaboradora externa do Instituto Dom Luiz e desempenha funções como Secretária da Assembleia de Membros do Observatório Europeu Multidisciplinar de Fundo Marinho e Coluna de Água (EMSO). É autora e coautora de vários artigos científicos e revisora de diversas revistas indexadas. Entre 2016 e 2021, foi Editora da revista Ocean and Coastal Management.
Mafalda Carapuçlo has a bachelor’s degree with a major in environmental engineering, an MSc in marine and coastal systems, and a PhD in geology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University. After working in coastal geomorphology (research) and as an environmental manager (private sector), she coordinated the Research Vessels and Ocean Observatories Group of the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere.
Currently works at the Atlantic International Research Centre as Deputy Executive Director for Operations and Development. She is an external collaborator of the Dom Luiz Institute and serves as Secretary of the Assembly of Members of the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory. She has authored and co-authored several research articles and served as reviewer for several indexed journals. From 2016 to 2021 she served as Editor for the Ocean and Coastal Management journal.
