Hugo André Costa é membro do Conselho Executivo da Agência Espacial Portuguesa. Atualmente, o Hugo é o representante nacional no Comité de Assuntos Espaciais Exteriores da UNOOSA, na Comissão Europeia, no Conselho da ESA e atua como Presidente do Comité de Relações Internacionais da ESA. Durante o seu tempo na Agência Espacial Portuguesa, presidiu com sucesso ao grupo de trabalho do conselho em preparação para o Conselho Espacial em 2021 e liderou o grupo de trabalho do componente espacial da Presidência Portuguesa do Conselho da UE, alcançando o manifesto da conferência “O Manifesto de Lisboa sobre Observação da Terra para África e Europa”.
Antes de ingressar na agência, trabalhou no EUMETSAT no Gabinete do Programa Copernicus. Também teve experiência na indústria espacial, tanto no Segmento Espacial como no Segmento Terrestre, em Espanha e na Alemanha.
Hugo André Costa nasceu e cresceu no norte de Portugal e possui uma licenciatura em física pela Universidade do Minho. O seu amor pelo espaço levou-o a Estrasburgo para estudar um Mestrado em Estudos Espaciais na International Space University e, posteriormente, um MBA na Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Atualmente, é estudante de doutoramento no ISCSP na área das Relações Internacionais.
Hugo André Costa is an Executive Board Member at the Portuguese Space Agency. Hugo Costa is currently the national representative at the Committee of Outer Space Affairs at UNOOSA, at the European Commission, ESA Council, and acts as Chairman of the International Relations Committee at ESA. During his time at the Portuguese Space Agency, Mr. Costa successfully chaired the council working group in preparation for the Space Council in 2021 and led the working group of the space component of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU Council, achieving the conference manifesto “The Lisbon Manifesto on EO for Africa and Europe”.
Before joining the agency, he worked at EUMETSAT in the Copernicus Programme Office. He also had experience in the space industry, both in the Space and Ground Segment in Spain and Germany.
Hugo André Costa was born and raised in the north of Portugal and has a bachelor’s in physics from Minho University. His love for space took him to Strasbourg to study a Master’s in Space Studies at the International Space University and later an MBA at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. He is currently a PhD student at ISCSP.
