O Almirante Henrique Gouveia e Melo (Quelimane, Moçambique, 1960) ingressou na Escola Naval em 1979 e iniciou a carreira operacional na Esquadrilha de Submarinos, onde comandou os submarinos “Delfim” e “Barracuda”. Desempenhou vários cargos de comando na Marinha, incluindo a fragata “Vasco da Gama”, o Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos e a Direção de Faróis. Como Oficial General, foi Comandante Naval e liderou a Força Marítima Europeia. Entre 2020 e 2021, coordenou a Task Force para a Vacinação contra a COVID-19. Chefiou o Estado-Maior da Armada entre 2021 e 2024, ano em que passou à reserva.
Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo (Quelimane, Mozambique, 1960) joined the Naval School in 1979 and began his operational career in the Submarine Fleet, where he commanded the submarines ‘Delfim’ and ‘Barracuda’. He held various command positions in the Navy, including the frigate ‘Vasco da Gama’, the Shipwreck Relief Institute and the Directorate of Lighthouses. As a General Officer, he was Naval Commander and led the European Maritime Force. Between 2020 and 2021, he coordinated the COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force. He headed the Navy’s General Staff between 2021 and 2024, the year he retired.
